Name: Don Terry
Injury: Don Terry suffered a serious accident in 1997 which left him paralysed from the waist down. According to Terry, the former bush jockey “died on the track”, after the horrific fall where he broke and fractured his ribs, his back, his skull and punctured his lungs.
Treatment: Don spent 6 months in Prince Alfred Hospital in Brisbane having treatment and rehabilitation.
“The National Jockeys Trust has been great to me. I hadn’t ridden for 18 years and was in need of a new wheelchair – The NJT came along and paid for a brand new lightweight chair that only weighed 5kg. I cannot fault the Trust and what they have done for me.”
